Yes, our Senior Center is open to seniors living in the Chelsea area AND surrounding communities.
May I come for lunch at the Senior Center?
Yes, everyone is invited to join us for a hot meal with salad and dessert served Monday through Friday at noon. The Senior Nutrition Program is a partnership between the Chelsea Senior Center and Chelsea Schools and is funded by Area Agency on Aging 1B through Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development. Diners over 60 who register with the Senior Nutrition Program (Chelsea Senior Center membership not required) are able to enjoy lunch for a $3 suggested donation. People under 60 and those who choose not to register for the Senior Nutrition Program pay $4. We ask that you call 734.475.9242 at least 24 hours in advance to make your reservation.
We also offer a Meals on Wheels option for home-bound seniors. Ask our staff for more information.
What if I am no longer driving?
Many Chelsea Senior Center members carpool or ride the W.A.V.E bus to the Center. The W.A.V.E. (Western-Washtenaw Area Value Express) offers transportation for Chelsea and Dexter residents, including door-to-door bus service in the Chelsea and Dexter area. They can be reached at 734.475.9494. We also have our C2S2 Program that will work to match you with a volunteer who can provide occasional rides. The Chelsea Senior Center is now a stop on the free route that the W.A.V.E. provides throughout town.
How can I make a tax-deductible donation?
The Chelsea Senior Center accepts in-kind and cash donations. When you donate to the Chelsea Senior Center, you will receive a receipt for you to use when preparing your taxes. For in-kind donations, please contact our staff to discuss the Center’s needs.
