Senior Nutrition Program

Icon of a fork, plate, and knife in gold color.

Every year we serve over 25,000 senior lunches from our Chelsea Senior Center as part of our Senior Nutrition Program. Our home-delivered meal program provides meals to over 100 seniors who aren't able to leave home regularly, and for those who can join us, our Senior Café lunches provide a meal and engagement opportunities. We could not meet the needs of so many seniors without the thousands of hours our volunteers donate to the Chelsea Senior Center each year.

If you would like to volunteer in the kitchen packaging meals Monday through Friday from 9 to 11 am, or deliver a hot meal and a smile to a homebound senior, please let us know.

To get involved, call CSC at 734-475-9242 or email us at Connected@ChelseaSeniors.org

When you visit Chelsea Senior Center, it’s important to us that you are greeted warmly by someone who can help meet your needs. Who better for that than members of the senior center? Each day, we are fortunate to have volunteers staff the Ambassador desk located in our lobby.

Intergenerational Garden

Volunteers of all ages help maintain the Intergenerational Garden’s vegetable and flower beds located on the Chelsea Senior Center campus.

There is a lot that goes into a vibrant community garden, including:

  • Weeding, watering, and harvesting: Enjoy great exercise and good company in the fresh air. We'll provide plenty of guidance if you're new to gardening.

  • Experienced organic gardeners: Share your knowledge of how to make the garden more productive and beautiful!

You don't have to be a gardener to help!

Other volunteer activities in the garden include:

  • Kid-helpers: Help with youth programming related to gardening, nature, healthy eating, and just having fun!

  • Fixers and builders: There’s always something to mend, maintain, or build, from deer fences and trellises to new raised beds.

You don't have to be a senior to help, either!

The Trinh Pifer Intergenerational Garden is a place for people of all ages to learn about gardening, support senior nutrition, and enjoy each other's company. While seniors are the backbone of garden volunteering, we also welcome youth groups and families with children. This is a great opportunity for youth group service projects or for high schoolers seeking experience for resumes and college applications.
